Alright everyone, I figured I would give my thoughts on the second show. The first thing I want to say is thank you to Jake and Tris for staying up late and working hard to get the show finished. It wasn’t an easy task. I’m sure for those of you that read it, you saw how much longer the show was. In between debuts and departures I thought it was an overall great effort, and a great show.
That being said...I think I’m just going to give some random thoughts from my perspective. I don’t mean to be disrespectful or anything. I just want to tell things like I interpreted them.
I want to give a shout out to Frank Lowe. He’s doing a great job getting his character across. In private converstations I’ve been calling him top heel. He just comes across as the type of wrestler you want to hate and I’ve really been enjoying it.
The Violence title division has been doing a good job telling their stories. From the first segment to set up the match last week to the stuff this week it’s so enjoyable. Every character is so different but they all want the same thing. The soft spoken nature of the Madman was really surprising and I like the borderline goofiness of Dream. Everyone is playing their part and I think it’s important as the only belt being defended. It was nice to see the main event focused around it.
As for the opponent, well I’m not sure I can take all the sugary goodness between RISA and Terra lol. Just a couple of best friends, or maybe something else? Maybe wishful thinking lol. Either way solid stuff from both and nice to see the switch from nice to fiesty from Terra.
I enjoyed the debut of Dragan Hill as well. We have so many characters and they all feel so different. I told him in private I feel the character can play both sides well just based off the one promo. His squash of Nanners was surprising as well. I am not sure what to expect from Nanners and it’s not my favorite humor, but it is pretty interesting to see a wrestling banana.
Baker smoking a cigarette had me asking “inside the complex” lol. I felt a lot of entitled frustration coming off of him. I think he’s a dick, but he has a point. Coming as part of the CCW merger he is already got a championship which gives him a case for backing up his claims to the Chaos title.
I like how the CCW merger hasn’t just been mentioned and then thrown away. We got a segment and match based on what had happened there. It was also a nice simple way to set up the match between Dizzie and Drake. It shows not all matches have to be against people who don’t like each other.
Another big part of the CCW storyline was the debut of JC Keeton and his intertwining relationships with so many characters. Keeton entered Epic with a purpose and it delivered. Much like Baker he came in with a title which gave him legitamacy. From his interaction with Wyldeside to the heated stuff between him and Quinn. I feel like even though Jake is one of the staff members he is showing he is on point with the characters he writes.
I want to mention Moros, I have enjoyed working the story with Tris and hope people are enjoying what we’re going for.
I think I covered most of the show. I know this is a bit long but it’s almost over. I just wanted to give some awards.
Best Face: I’m going to go with...JC Keeton. Even though he doesn’t come across as a typical face I think that’s do to his youth.
Best Heel: I’ve got to go with Frank Lowe. Like I said this guy is killing it.
Best Segment: I’m going with “The Name Game”. It was just a chat but I think it have us a better understanding to the Madman.
Best Match: We don’t really have matches so I will just go with the one I think progressed things the best for the competitors. I am going to go with the #1 contender match for the Violence title. The title and division is getting developed nicely.
Moo Moment of the Week!!! Terra and RISA rubbing cake on each other!
