I’m finally getting around to one of these for REBIRTH. The first thing I want to say is great job everyone. We had a couple hiccups but I think we got through these first six shows with a lot of momentum. Thanks to everyone involved in making this place awesome. I think it only gets better from here.
The stuff between Shane and Baker was well done. I knew some of what was going to happen but not the specifics. I think the heel turn was also pretty good. This is going to be an interesting group for sure. I think it’s gives a lot of characters direction and made a top line heel in the process.
El Diablo is really working this Taco Bell stuff and it’s pretty awesome. I am also a fan of the homemade belt and how he puts his fans first. He does make a good point, he wears a mask so who cares what he looks like.
The Dalmons are “The Greatest Siblings in EPIC” and I hope you guys are at enjoying them a little bit. After learning Wyldeside was a part of the stable I really thought maybe just changing the planned finish so there wasn’t a weak spot in the group.
The stuff with Terra Mason and Risa shows their friendship seems to revolve around food quite a bit. I swear I’m the only one but it just feels like there is some sort of romantic thing going on. I thought it once and I still think it. Was nice to have a presence from Risa once again.
Dragan Hill won and that was the right call in my opinion. I’m hoping to see more strong promo work from him.
The JC/Dizzie relationship is so funny to me. They both are so bad ass when they are apart but when they are together it’s such a different dynamic. It’s good JC wouldn’t try to stop her. I’m pretty sure she could pop his head off with her legs.
One word I used last week in talking about the Double Hell Deathmatch was excessive. I was told that’s what it was supposed to be. It was an entertaining match between friends/rivals and I know those involved are proud of it. They should be. If anything I think it was a bit much for the first PPV, but it serves the purpose of the characters. Plus it gives the Violence division a new challenger.
Eli Hix is a different character than I’m used to seeing Jake do. I know he’s pretty excited about it as well. I think it works well within EPIC because of the variety of characters we have. We obviously know something is wrong with Terra. She’s way too cool with all that’s going on. This is the second time in the show I saw a romantic interest for Terra. If anything the segment shows that the characters have many dimensions.
A good debut for Okami. It looks like Nanners wasn’t able to give him the slip.
I really like the video game aspect of Dream. I feel like he’s got the right to feel the way he does because he keeps getting screwed over. At this point you really got to feel for him.
As far as the violence title match goes, I’ve already said what a great job the division did the first cycle as the only title on the shows. I think everyone has been strong and in the end I think El Diablo was the right choice to retain. I don’t know how long anyone will hold the belt because anyone can win it.
It was really fun doing the big match breakdown with Jake. I wasn’t sure how it would go and I was intimidated by it but it was really a different thing for me. It was nice to give some info on Jack that most people probably didn’t know.
Frank Lowe vs Terra Mason was another good one. We haven’t seen as much of Lowe as we were seeing but he explained that. I did expect him to win though. I said it earlier but there’s something wrong with Terra. Her pic base looks so sweet so it always catches me off guard. I am not quite sure what’s up but it’s not what I expect.
The Muru vs Moros match is the part of the show that hit me the hardest. I had a feeling Moros would be turning and joining the stable. I just didn’t expect it to come at the expense of Muru. I was actually hurt by it because it caught me so off guard and I was out of the loop. So it got a response from me. Working with Tris has been nothing but great but man that stung.
So this new stable,...well they have been pretty strong tonight. At the same time I like how it’s already not perfect. Like I was saying earlier I really thought about Wyldeside winning but I think it was addressed well in this segment. The goals are clear and no one really feels like they are safe. I was hoping bunny wasn’t going to be gone forever. I was told otherwise.
Here we go to the main event. I really hope you guys liked the build to it. I know it wasn’t very in your face and in some ways it took a backseat to other feuds. It’s really an honor to be crowned the first champion because there are so many awesome writers here. I feel so unworthy of even being in the same place as some of you. I really want to continue to work with anyone. I’m here to tell stories. The story of the night was RI5EN and that turn on JC I think was done well. I am sure some of us reading the show and knowing the history between Baker and Keeton that something might happen. But this show Baker really stepped up to become a big time heel.
This show was another great one. I know I use that word a lot but there isn’t much to complain about. I want to take this time to say this one thing. I know I’m not a staff member, but I want you all to know that no one person is looked at as being more important than the next. I want everyone to feel encouraged that win or lose they are doing a great job. I just want to remind you guys that stuff doesn’t matter and I hear about the good things you all are doing.
Let’s keep it up and have another amazing cycle!
Best Face: This for me was pretty easy. I had to go with El Diablo. He is leading a strong division and just comes across so likeable.
Best Heel: This was another easy one. That motherfucker Graham Baker! That dude and his team attacked half my guys. He’s going to get his!
Best Segment: There was a lot of good seg work this week even though there were less than usual. After looking through them more than once I went with Pet the Bunny.
Best Match: I am going to go with the Double Hell Deathmatch, but none of them were bad.
Moo Moment of the Week!!! My complete emotional breakdown over Moros hurting my feelings.
